Rajgir


Rajgir is a city located in Nalanda district in Gaya,Bihar. Rajgair ancient name is Rajagaha.In ancient time Rajagaha(rajgir) was the capital of Magadha in 5th century BC. The son of Ajatshtru remove the capital Rajagaha(Rajgir) and Make the capital pataliputra(Patna) of Magadha. Maghadha was the state which is situated in Mauryan Empire.
Rajgir is a famous for Jainism and Buddhism. Because It was the birthplace of Jain Tirthankar Munisurvata, Mahavira and Gautama Buddha.
People believed that in this place Gatuam Buddha meditate long time near the tree of Gridhra Kuta known as Bargad tree. And then he became a powerful man.
Rajgir has been closely related to Hinduism ,Buddhism and Jainism and has played host Lord Buddha and Mahavira, thus has many archeological site related to Buddhism and Jainism.
Jain people believed that it place was famous for kings.In this place where material arts are practiced.
People believed that in this place Lord Mahavira, 24th trithankava spent his fourteen years in rajgir and In nalanda he spent 4 months in rainy season.
An ancient people believed that Munisurata have been born here. So People make his temple before 1200 year .They believed that God is also present her along with many Jain temples. This temple is also a place for four kalayanakas of Bhagwan Munisuvratnath.
The city (rajair) is in a valley surrounded by seven hills: * Vaibhava *Ratna *Saila * Sona * Udaya * Chhatha * Vipula River Panchane flows through the outskirts of the town.
Rajgir has also famous for winter resort due to its warm water ponds. People believed that in this place. These baths are said to contain some medicine properties that help in the cure of many skin disease. And anther attraction of the region is the ropeway that leads uphill to the vishwa shantu stupa, Makhadoom kind and monasteries built by Japanese devotes of the Buddha on top of the Ratanagiri hills.
In Rajgir ,Males constituency 53% of population and females 47%. And an average literacy rate of males is 41% and females literary is 41%.
In Gaya (Rajgir 78km) international airport like Bangkok, and another airport is at Patna 101 km.
Rajgir is connected by road to Patna (110km), Nalanda(12km) ,Gaya( 78km) ,Pawapuri(19km), Bihar Sharif(25km), etc.


 
A large number of hotels are located in Rajgir for tourists.
